Apple HomeView and whole-home audio: how they work together
Yes. Apple HomeView plays music over AirPlay, and every HUM system plays AirPlay, so HomeView can send music to the speakers in your ceilings and walls, one room or many. Nothing extra to buy from us, and no new app to learn.

What is Apple HomeView?
Apple HomeView is a small smart home display from Apple. It has a 7-inch screen, speakers, a camera and microphones, and it sits on a tabletop stand or mounts on a wall. It runs Siri, shows your photos and calendar, makes FaceTime calls, and controls Apple Home accessories like lights, locks and thermostats.
Apple lists it as available starting November 13, 2026, in four colors.
How does HomeView play music in other rooms?
HomeView uses AirPlay, Apple's built-in way of sending music from one device to speakers around the home. Apple says HomeView's multiroom audio works with HomePod, Apple TV and compatible AirPlay speakers.
Every system we install plays AirPlay. That means each room we wire, from the kitchen to the patio, can show up as a place HomeView can send music to.
In practice:
- Play to one room. Start Apple Music on HomeView in the kitchen and send it to the kitchen ceiling speakers, which sound far fuller than HomeView's own small speakers.
- Play to several rooms at once. Group the kitchen, living room and patio so the same song plays everywhere, in time.
- Leave your phone in your pocket. Anyone in the house can choose music and rooms from the screen on the wall.
What doesn't change?
Everything you already do keeps working. You can still play from Spotify, Apple Music or any AirPlay app on your phone, and guests can still play from theirs. HomeView is one more way to reach the same speakers, not a replacement for anything.
There's no subscription from us, and no dealer programming to pay for. HomeView is set up in Apple's own Home app, not in software only we can change.
What should I know before buying one?
- It's brand new. HomeView ships on November 13. We'll test it in real HUM homes as soon as it's available and update this page with anything we learn.
- Spotify works differently. Apple's page says third-party music apps on HomeView are streamed from your iPhone. If you mostly listen to Spotify, you may still prefer to play from your phone.
- You need wired power. HomeView plugs in with USB-C. The wall mount is sold separately, so think about where an outlet or power can reach.
- It works with your Apple ID. Apple says HomeView recognizes up to six people in a household and shows each person's own content when their iPhone or iPad is nearby.
Do I need HomeView at all?
No. If your family is happy pressing play on a phone, HUM works beautifully without it. HomeView is a nice addition if you'd like a shared screen in the kitchen, if some people in the house don't use a smartphone app, or if you're already using the Apple Home app for lights and locks.
If you're not sure whether it fits how you live, ask us at your listening visit. We'll tell you honestly.

Questions, answered
No. If your HUM system is already installed, it plays AirPlay today. Buy HomeView from Apple, set it up in the Apple Home app, and your HUM rooms are available to it. If you'd like a hand, we'll come and help at no charge, as part of our free in-home support.
No. HUM isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Apple. HomeView works with HUM systems because both use AirPlay, Apple's standard for playing audio to speakers in the home.
Apple lists HomeView as available starting November 13, 2026, with pre-orders open now on apple.com.
No, and it doesn't need to. You can keep playing from Spotify, Apple Music or AirPlay on your phone exactly as you do now. HomeView simply adds a screen in the kitchen or hallway that anyone in the house can use, including guests and family members who don't have the app.
Usually not directly. Older Control4 and Savant equipment doesn't play AirPlay. When we replace that equipment, we can usually keep your speakers and wiring, and the new system will work with HomeView.
